You know the drill—here are 5 of my favourite UX Bites from the last few weeks.

Let’s dive straight in.

1. Uber’s weather-based tipping

Uber will prompt you to tip more if it's raining, with a default amount of 20% pre-selected (higher than normal).

Behind the Bite

Notice that they've got an illustration of a determind delivery rider, climbing up steps and battling against the rain to get to you.

Also, there are five options, and the selected default option (20%) is the second in the list (I believe an intentional decision).

Abstract away the numbers for a moment—choosing the second item in a list of five feels reasonable. It's not the cheapest option, but the second cheapest. This is clever framing.

2. Roomba’s cleaning animation

After setting up your Roomba for the first time, you'll see an animation where confetti falls to the floor, and then then your Roomba will drive around cleaning up the mess.

3. Wendy’s burger flipping

Wendy's 404 page has an interactive game, very similar to Donkey Kong, where you have to stack burgers. (link)

4. Hey there, Amazon

Occasionally when logging into Amazon you'll see your profile character wave at you.

This was something I saw out of the corner of my eye a few times, but then couldn’t repeat. It doesn’t happen every time, just sometimes.

5. Incorrect delivery addresses

When printing a postage label, eBay will warn you if it thinks that the address is entered slightly wrong, and give you a one-click way of fixing it.
