UX Bites #5 — YouTube, Superhuman & more...

The most popular UX Bites from the last 2 weeks.

Hey 👋,

As I battle to stay cool during the UK heatwave, I’ve compiled the 5 most popular Bites from the last few weeks.

This feels like an A+ batch:

1. Framing the value of YouTube

It can be easy to forget that the experience you're receiving is better than the free alternative (i.e., lack of ads).

To help frame the value of your subscription, YouTube has a summary dashboard to remind you about the benefits you've received.

2. You’re a champion

Answering your emails is an inherently single-player experience, but Superhuman have gamified the process of hitting 'inbox zero', by comparing your performance to their userbase.

You’ll then get badges and notifications like this.

3. Timezone awareness

If you're messaging someone out of office hours, Slack will display their timezone.

4. Uber safety toolkit

Uber's safety toolkit includes automatic route detour detection (you'll be detected if you go off-route).

You then have the option to live chat with a trained agent.

5. Time to hack

Column (a bank infrastructure API) will give you an estimated "time to hack" for your password.

If it's too easy, you'll also get tips for creating a more secure one.

Was 5 not enough? There’s a growing archive of them here:

That’s all for this week. ✌️

Seeing as you got this far, it really helps for deliverability if you reply to this message. (It tells your inbox that you like me, or something to that effect).
